Snap assist is a neat productivity feature especially for those of us who have multiple windows open at once. It’s a way of managing all those open windows without having to select them or accidentally close them.
I like it as a feature but I know not everyone does. So, if you want to disable the snap feature on Windows 10, here’s how. Shift a window to either side of the desktop and you will likely see a transparent overlay appear. Let go of the mouse and the windows you have selected will take up exactly half that screen. In the other half, your other open windows will appear as small icons.
You can select one of them to take up the rest of the screen or leave the icons as they are. That’s the snap feature. You can also place four windows in a quadrant with the snap feature, just drag one to a corner of the screen. Disable the snap feature on Windows 10 To turn off the snap feature just do the following.
Manage Snap in Windows 10. Basically, the operations that you can perform using Snap include: Snapping two windows side by side. Snapping two windows to one half so that each occupies a quarter of the display, and one window to the other half. Snapping four windows to each quarter of the screen. Resizing the width.
Navigate to Settings, System and then Multitasking. Adjust the settings in the Snap window as you see fit. Disable them all to turn off all snap features.

Close Settings. Or: You can also make this change in the registry if you would prefer. Type or paste ‘regedit’ into the Search Windows box.
Navigate to HKEYCURRENTUSER Control Panel Desktop. Turn WindowArrangementActive to 0 to disable the snap feature on Windows 10. Switch it back to 1 should you wish to re-enable snap. More Windows 10 customization tweaks.
